Our story: built from steel and spirit
Joseph G. Sharkan grew up on Bethlehem’s south side, surrounded by the roar and smoke of one of America’s industrial giants—Bethlehem Steel. In a community shaped by hard-working immigrants and post-Depression resilience, Joe learned the value of grit, resourcefulness, and self-reliance.
After serving two tours in the U.S. Army—one in Europe, one in the Pacific—he returned home determined to build something of his own. He wasn’t made to work for others. He was driven to create.
Joe founded what would become Sharkan Supply Company, representing innovative manufacturers whose products could transform the construction industry. He was among the first to introduce groundbreaking tools and fasteners to the region—powder-actuated tools, self-drilling screws, drywall screws, and more.
Today, we carry forward his legacy of innovation, integrity, and service. Still family-owned. Still contractor-focused. Still proudly rooted in the Lehigh Valley.
